Article Directories: Getting Your Articles Published
It may seem like it should go without saying, but if you want to succeed at article marketing then you must get your articles published. There are many article directories and blogs that will be happy to publish your articles if you avoid the following problems. I have reviewed tens of thousands of articles as an editor for the ElectricText article directory. And if you follow these tips, I can tell you that your articles would likely be accepted by me and the same will probably apply to editors at most other article directories as well.
1. Badly Written Articles
Your articles don’t need to be something your teachers would have given an A+, but they do need to be readable. If you can’t spell or your grammar is terrible, it’s likely your article will be rejected. If you are spinning or rewriting articles, make sure that the end product is readable by humans, not just search engines.
When editing your article, think about whether you would read it. If you wouldn’t, it needs editing. These days there are many software programs that will help you edit for spelling and grammar. But if English is not your natural language, you may want to have a native English speaker edit your article before submission.
2. Article Duplication
I don’t mean the practice of submitting the same article to many article directories. That’s normal, and is generally okay. (Even though you would likely get better results if you submit unique articles at each directory.)
It’s surprisingly easy to tell when someone has just gotten a new article with PLR (private label rights). I get a dozen copies of the exact same article. PLR has gotten a bad name on article directories because of this. But it’s really because people don’t rewrite the PLR as intended. If you’re going to submit a PLR article, rewrite it and make it as close to 100% unique as possible or it will probably be rejected.
3. Plagiarized Articles
About the only thing worse than going through a queue of poorly written articles mixed with tons of duplicate PLR is plagiarism. Somebody even had the gall once to steal an article I wrote and submit it to me for publication under their name! I really almost couldn’t believe it.
Not only didn’t we publish the article for them, but we went through and deleted every article the author had ever submitted and banned them from submitting more articles. It wasn’t just that I was upset (although I was). We also had to assume that their other articles might have also been plagiarized. And the last thing any article directory site needs is copyright complaints, as that could even get their site shut down.
These three tips should help you be much more successful in your article marketing campaigns. As your article marketing pays off, you should see an increase in your website traffic. You will get a traffic boost from the links in your articles and over time those links will also help the search engine optimization (SEO) of your website.
